The meaning behind the TGI album cover?
I have always found TGI’s cover very enigmatic and interesting. Clearly, some photomontage work went into creating the cover as we see it here, and I wonder about the meaning behind it. First of all, I noticed that the makeup (false eyelashes, eyeliner, lipstick) seems to be the same as that from the 70s photoshoot, so I assume it’s a montage of an image taken during that shoot. Then the redness on the cheeks is reminiscent of clown makeup, but I also think it could be a representation of lupus and the redness it causes on the face. It’s kind of a characteristic sign of lupus.
Also, there kinda seems to be a cut-out around the face to frame it, and the eyebrows appear to have been erased. I might be getting into too much detail here, but I’d really love to know how the montage was done and the explanation behind it! What are you guys’ theories / thoughts?
